Introduction to Drawing

Learn to see your everyday world in new and exciting ways. In this introductory drawing class, we will explore visual literacy through learning to draw what we see. Students will develop the ability to create the illusion of three dimensional space, cultivate an individual style, assemble a portfolio of strong drawings, learn basic design and layout and most importantly, learn to love drawing. We will investigate basic concepts of composition and form using charcoal, conté and pastels employing both additive and subtractive processes. Demonstrations, vocabulary, and slide discussions will be included throughout the course and students will draw primarily from life, working also on design projects in class.
