"Asking and Telling"
This past year has been full of legislation and activism around the rights of LGBTQ people. From the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, to the ongoing legislative and court battles for the Right to Marriage, to the “It Gets Better” video campaign started by Dan Savage, the personal and political lives of the LGBTQ community have been front page material all year.
Of course, beneath all the politics is an ocean brimming with stories. This October, join artists from New Mexico, Illinois, California, and New York as they use visual and written works of art to explore their myriad experiences of coming out of the closet and claiming space.
"Homebodies"Collaborators David Ondrik and Becky Holtzman inhabit a 90-year-old house near Old Town. "Homebodies" is an installation reflecting on the years spent under the roof of their "Sunflower House". Photographs, paper sculpture and bee dreams are the materials that shape this study on the pleasures of home and compatibility.
Attend Becky Holtzman's Gallery Talk! Sunday October 23rd, 2 pm
