Reginald Gammon was born March 31, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His career spanned fifty years; he was an exceptional teacher, painter and printmaker. "An intellectual artist, his work depicted the civil rights struggles of the 1960's, the dignity of unsung heroes, jazz and blues musicians and observations of everyday life." He also told great stories. In Albuquerque, Reggie was a founding member of New Grounds Print Workshop and a longtime friend of Outpost Performance Space. You could find him almost every day at his studio at the Harwood Art Center, which he maintained for thirteen years.
