Making art for me is somewhat akin to eating chocolate; delightful, decadent, divine, satisfying (soul satisfying and very addictive!) You can never get enough of either.
The sheer joy and frustration of the world around me is reflected in my art. My inspiration comes from as close as my own backyard and as far away as my last trip. This love of travel and change plays a strong role in my art. I’ve wandered from water media to printmaking to mixed media in search of a way to do it all!
Mixed Media satisfies my love/hate relationship with my computer, and combines my fascination with photography. There is very little that I don’t enjoy among the various art media, but my favorite is some form of printmaking combined with collage. It has a hands on immediacy that I crave and if I want; a lack of repetition.
Contemporary art quilts are part of a revolutionary movement that has transcended the once strict barriers between the craft of quilting and fine art, filling a niche somewhere between sculpture and painting. These two artists combine their exceptional skills in working with fabrics, threads, paints, and their artistic insights to craft stunning tactile creations that inspire, elevate, and encourage reflection.
Two artists from different backgrounds, each with a different history…Betty Busby and Patricia Gould see the same world through very different pairs of eyes. Both are passionate about their medium and expressing emotions about the world around them, which are the common threads in their work. This exhibition highlights the themes and approaches these two artists explore; the similarities and differences between their separate, yet complementary, views.
