ARTIST TRADING CARDS

About

Hosted by Harwood Art Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Artist Trading Cards is an annual celebration of connection and creativity, bridging artists across place and practice.

Participating artists will receive 10 blank cards to create mini artworks in their unique vision. The artworks are mailed back to Harwood, who shuffles and distributes the artworks to participating artists. At the end of the program, participants end up with a mini collection of artworks from 10 unique artists! Artists of all experience, ages, and identities are encouraged to participate in Artist Trading Cards.

Originally organized in partnership with Women & Creativity, Artist Trading Cards ran for over a decade before pausing in 2021. Harwood engages the arts as a catalyst for personal empowerment, cultural enrichment and social change. In this project artists share their unique creativity, vision, and voice, building generative exchanges through artmaking. We believe that this is essential, especially during times of uncertainty.

Play Along

Whether you’re in Albuquerque or Abu Dhabi, Santa Fe or São Paulo, Harwood invites you to play along with our Artist Trading Card Project.

Our Artist Trading Card Project asks you to beautify 10 trading cards (we’ll provide them) with poems, painting, prints, whatever you see fit, and return them to Harwood.

We ask participants to make a contribution of $15, $25, or $35! Your choice. All collected fees support the material and administrative costs of this program. If the fee presents a barrier, you are still encouraged to participate, please submit the form below and email us at programs@harwoodartcenter.org to confirm your fee waiver.
