Class Description
Throughout history, artists have created ephemeral works in order to resist commodification and challenge the ways people think about art. These pieces create poetic and fleeting experiences that speak to the impermanent nature of our own existence. In this class, we will explore art making that is transient, drawing inspiration from performance, land art, and even graffiti. We will create temporary installations, experiment with non-traditional art materials, and explore a variety of art events that take place only within the span of a few hours. This class will be open-ended and workshop style in order to help both new and practicing artists survey a variety of ways of working and creating.
