About the Teaching Artist:
Lea Anderson, a mixed media and installation artist, has lived and worked in New Mexico since 2003 and has discovered much during her adventures in the dramatic, colorful, and wild desert environment. Anderson has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. She received her MFA from UNM and is currently a Full-Time Art Studio Faculty at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). She has also led dozens of workshops and short-term classes for Harwood using a wide variety of mixed media techniques. She is collaborating on projects with Meow Wolf and Electric Playhouse in New Mexico in 2022

Class Description
Come and explore the luscious surfaces, details, and layering possibilities of incorporating colored pencils into mixed media, floral-inspired artwork! Both waxy and water-soluble colored pencil techniques will be included, along with several unique colored pencil-compatible surfaces and an exciting array of water media, ink, and collage materials. Artists will come away with several artworks and lots of inspiration! All experience levels welcome and all materials provided.

This class will be indoors in our Dining Hall in the main Harwood Building. 1114 7th St NW 87102

Saturday September 5 : 9am-4pm
Sunday September 6 : 9am-4pm
*There will be a scheduled break halfway through the session
Who
This class is appropriate for ages 16 and up (under 18 requires parent permission).
The class will be limited to a maximum of 15 students.
What to Bring
Materials will be provided to students. A $35 materials fee is also required to attend the class. You will bring $35 cash or check to the instructor on the first day of the workshop.
How Much
Harwood is committed to providing accessible classes to our community. All Art School classes this fall will be offered on a sliding scale with subsidized, at cost, and community support options. An additional $35 materials fee is required on the first day of class in cash or check to the instructor.

Refund Policy
Class Fee refunds will issued less a 10% administrative fee for cancellations received by email (hallee@harwoodartcenter.org). The Class Fees will not be refunded if students withdraw from the workshop less than one week before the start date of the class or after the class has begun. If the class is cancelled by Harwood Art Center for any reason, the Class Fee will be refunded in full.
