ArtFix Guidelines
- In each session, the ArtFix Mentor (Lea and/or Ivan) will meet individually with the artist for approximately 15 minutes to give feedback and discuss ideas. The rest of the 3-hour session, the artist works independently in our shared classroom.
- Please bring all of your own materials, and whatever you need to make progress on your artwork.
- Artists should generally plan to set up their own work spaces. However, if artists have any physical limitations with their set-up, ArtFix Mentors can help with setting up/moving tables, adding additional lighting, and arranging easels at the start of the session.
- It’s important for some artists to sit in the same spot each week, so we encourage participants to try to find a favorite spot and work there regularly. However, it may also happen that someone might not know that your usual spot, so please be understanding and flexible in those circumstances.
- When it is your turn to meet with the ArtFix Mentor, please be prepared with questions and/or topics of discussion that are important to you.
- If an ArtFix Mentor is meeting with another artist, please do not interrupt their meeting with questions. If you do have questions after your one-on-one session, please wait until the end of class or save the question for the next ArtFix session.
- It is wonderful to engage with the other artists during the session, but please also respect other artists’ feedback time with mentors, independent work time, and social boundaries, as they may prefer to focus on working rather than chatting. However, if interesting discussions happen naturally, that is highly encouraged! ArtFix is a great place to learn, connect, support one another, network, and have fun!
