About the Teaching Artist
Robert Stokowy is an artist, educator, and artistic researcher born and raised in Cologne, Germany. His work combines sound with interdisciplinary practices such as writing, photography, printmaking, videography. After earning a M.A. in Sound Studies, Robert has had exhibitions, installations, tours, and performances internationally.

Class Description
We all have fascinating stories to tell, and love listening to them! This workshop is an opportunity for everyone to learn how to create great audio pieces affordably. No previous knowledge is needed! Be it a podcast, documentary sound recordings, interviews, or radio dramas – Sound Narratives will give you all the tools you need to realize your ideas.
Students of this course can:
1) Learn about genres and styles of sonic narratives
2) Gain experience in recording and editing
3) Create their own pieces

This class will be indoors in the main Harwood Building. 1114 7th St nw 87102
When
Class is scheduled for Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm for six weeks.
First day of class: Wednesday October 2nd
Last day of class: Wednesday November 6th
Who
Open to teens (15-19) and adults (20 and up) of all experience levels.
What to Bring
Notepad and pen
Recording device: (Option A) smartphone (with the spotify for podcasters app installed Apple / Android) ; (Option B) mobile recorder (example) ; (Option C) microphone + recording device of your choice
Headphones (any kind is good)
Charger (or batteries) for recording devices

Refund Policy
Class Fee refunds will be issued less a 10% administrative fee on a case by case basis and requests must be emailed to Hollie (hollie@harwoodartcenter.org) at least one week prior to the start date of the class. The Class Fees will not be refunded if students request to withdraw from the workshop less than one week before the start date of the class or after the class has begun. If the class is cancelled by Harwood Art Center for any reason, the Class Fee will be refunded in full.
