Class Description
Portrait Painting PRACTICE in a Weekend (Oils):
In this weekend workshop you will learn and practice some of the painting skills needed to paint engaging, representational portraits in oil. Starting with facial features and proportions, you’ll learn to think in planes versus lines. We’ll also explore the expressive potential of values and learn how to use them to create thoughtful and intentional compositions. We’ll explore mixing a variety of skin tones and learning how to manipulate warm and cool tones to enhance dimension. By the end of the weekend, you’ll know how to draw with paint – no more depending on a pencil! This is a skills-building workshop with a strong emphasis on process over product. Come ready to learn and have fun!
(This workshop is skill building only; if you would like to complete a portrait painting, also sign up for A Portrait Painting in a Weekend.)
