Albuquerque, New Mexico

I am a proud Latina born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Growing up in Albuquerque and having strong familial ties to Taos, I’ve been lucky enough to be immersed in my own culture and surrounded by people and communities who share similar backgrounds, stories, and passions. Most of my interests include subjects having to do with social justice and uplifting marginalized groups who have yet to receive equal opportunity and a consistent seat at the table. Additionally, not only are my cultural ties strong, but so are the ties that I feel to the women in my family, both blood related and chosen.

My entire life I’ve been raised by matriarchs both brilliant and strong, from my mother, to my grandmother, to my great grandmother. I’ve had the opportunity to live in the same household as all three at various points in my life, and that fortune is anything but lost on me. In the future I would like to dedicate my life’s work to telling the stories of people who lack the recognition and representation they deserve, and by telling one story at a time I believe the entire system of oppression, exclusion, and silence that our society has thrived on for too long will crumble.
