About the Teaching Artist
Lea Anderson, a mixed media and installation artist, has lived and worked in New Mexico since 2003 and has discovered much during her adventures in the dramatic, colorful, and wild desert environment. Anderson has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. She received her MFA from UNM and is currently a Full-Time Art Studio Faculty at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). She has also led dozens of workshops and short-term classes for Harwood using a wide variety of mixed media techniques. She is collaborating on projects with Meow Wolf and Electric Playhouse in New Mexico.
In this exciting collage workshop, we will spend a full day producing and experimenting, creating a series of dramatically-textured surfaces on paper using a wide range of mixed-media. On day two, we will create beeswax collages with our textures and seal them with melted beeswax to create compelling, glowing, finished works of art. Participating artists will also come away with a great assortment of textured collage papers for future projects. All materials included… but bring anything you’d like to play with!
