About the Moderators

Lea Anderson, a mixed media and installation artist, has lived and worked in New Mexico since 2003 and has discovered much during her adventures in the dramatic, colorful, and wild desert environment. Anderson has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. She received her MFA from UNM and is currently a Full-Time Art Studio Faculty at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). She has also led dozens of workshops and short-term classes for Harwood using a wide variety of mixed media techniques. She is collaborating on projects with Meow Wolf and Electric Playhouse in New Mexico in 2022

Ivan Boyd is a local artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Solo and group exhibits include 516 Arts, the John Sommers Gallery, the Harwood Art Center, and the Bright Rain Gallery. His awards include The Phyllis Muth Scholarship for Fine Arts, The Harry Nadler Memorial Fellowship Award, and The Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship at Yale University. He has taught art as an adjunct faculty member at Central New Mexico Community College, and at the Harwood Art Center, The Southwest University of Visual Art, and the University of New Mexico. Before focusing exclusively on his art he worked as an Analyst Programmer at the University of New Mexico.

Class Description

Would you like time set aside to make your own art? Do you need a regular creative ‘fix’? If you respond well to the rhythm of weekly classes, would like to work more with a particular media, or want to get back into regular creative practice, this is the perfect place for you! As fellow artists and art instructors, we are here to offer valuable feedback, mentorship, tips and suggestions for whatever you want to work on. The last night of class will be set aside for a supportive group critique. This fun, friendly, unique atmosphere will provide opportunities for networking, discussion, and creative growth. Make time for this important part of your life!

This class will be held indoors on our campus near downtown Albuquerque. 1114 7th St NW 87102

When

Class is scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

First day of class: Thursday August 31st

Lat day of class: Thursday November 16th

This class is appropriate for ages 18 and up

Refund Policy

Class Fee refunds will be issued on a case by case basis and requests must be emailed to Ruby (ruby@harwoodartcenter.org) at least one week prior to the start date of the class. The Class Fees will not be refunded if students request to withdraw from the workshop less than one week before the start date of the class or after the class has begun. If the class is cancelled by Harwood Art Center for any reason, the Class Fee will be refunded in full.
